ABOUT ALI
Ali lives in Oxford and has been a broadcaster for over 20 years. Starting her broadcasting career in hospital radio while at school, she studied for a music degree at Exeter University, gaining a first for her dissertation on Classic FM and Radio 3. While at Uni, she joined the campus radio station, URE, a training ground for a host of broadcasters working in the media today.
After University, she worked at various commercial radio stations, landing at BRMB having been spottted in their Search for a Star competition. This led to the Breakfast show at Ocean FM alongside Spencer Kelly (now the BBC's Click anchor) and then to FOX FM where on Breakfast with Steve Priestley, they achieved the station's highest ever listening figures. After yearning a lie-in she presented the mid-morning show, achieving higher figures than the breakfast show.
After the birth of her first child, she joined BBC Radio Oxford, covering various shows until she started presenting their Saturday Breakfast show after the birth of her twins. She also combined that with presenting the travel news on 5 Live while it was based in London, along with co-hosting some shows on the station. Ali joined the Sound Women mentoring scheme and worked for a year with Fi Glover gaining some sound advice.
An accomplished female voiceover artist with a music degree, she is currently one of the continuity announcers for Pick TV and can be heard on numerous IVRs. My new podcast Where Did It All Go Right is up and running where we talk to creatives about the pivotal moments in their career. Get a new episode every Sunday on ITunes or Podbean.
